As is well known, on September 6, 2025, the Archdiocese of Veszprém will host a historic event: the beatification of the confessor Magdolna Bódi, who was born in the diocese. This will be an extraordinary celebration not only for the city and the Archdiocese but for the entire Hungarian Catholic Church.

As Dr. György Udvardy, Archbishop of Veszprém, stated at a previous press conference, this event is “a church celebration of enormous significance, one for which we are preparing… It is the universal Church that can proclaim someone’s sanctity, and the life of Magdolna Bódi—her example of faith, hope, love, and self-sacrifice—has made her worthy of this special recognition.”

The number of registered pilgrims before the originally scheduled date was 10,005. Based on registrations, most pilgrims will arrive by bus, but a free Magdolna Pilgrim Train will also run from Budapest. The V-Busz public transport company in Veszprém will continue to provide special shuttles between key locations in the city, including the train station, the castle area, and the Arena, ensuring accessible transportation. On-site, a team of several hundred volunteers will help ensure the smooth running of the celebration.

The new date allows for the organization of the previously planned events. The main location remains the open-air area in front of the ONE Veszprém Arena. After the beatification, Magdolna Bódi’s relic will be placed on the St. Emeric altar in the St. Michael Cathedral, where the faithful may pay their respects. To avoid congestion, pilgrims are still encouraged to use public transportation and arrive in organized groups.

We kindly ask all previously registered pilgrims to confirm or modify their participation according to the instructions in the upcoming email. Please note: unconfirmed registrations will be invalid.

Pilgrims who have not yet signed up can register at www.boldoggaavatas.hu. It only takes a few minutes.

If you encounter any issues during registration, please write to: regisztracio@boldoggavatas.hu.

As the event approaches, registered participants will receive detailed information including general guidelines, a map, and the locations of entrance points.

During the event, entry to the closed area at Veszprém Arena will be available at two access points: one for pilgrims arriving via organized buses and shuttle services, and one for those arriving from the city on foot. Parking for personal vehicles will be available only in limited numbers, but 100 pilgrim buses can be accommodated on-site.
