Official Announcement – New Date for the Beatification of Mária Magdolna Bódi

Let us now rejoice in this joy…” – With the words of Archbishop Dr. György Udvardy, we are pleased to announce with great joy that Pope Leo XIV has set the official date for the beatification of Mária Magdolna Bódi:  Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM.

On behalf of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, the beatification will be solemnly celebrated by His Eminence Cardinal Dr. Péter Erdő, Primate of Hungary and Archbishop of Esztergom-Budapest, who will proclaim as Blessed the Venerable Servant of God, Mária Magdolna Bódi, virgin and martyr.

This announcement is a tremendous gift not only for our Archdiocese but for the entire Hungarian Catholic community. We are especially grateful that the date falls at the beginning of the new school year, allowing preparations to begin already in late summer within our schools, parishes, and families. In the coming days, we will reconnect with all our previous partners to ensure that planning continues smoothly and joyfully.

Over the past months, we have already been preparing together—through prayer, witness, and deep reflection on the Christlike example of Mária Magdolna Bódi. Now, with even greater hope and joy, we continue this spiritual journey.

We understand that many questions may arise regarding participation: registration, travel arrangements, and pilgrimages. We will provide detailed information about these practical matters very soon.

In the meantime, let us rejoice together! Let us prepare wholeheartedly for this extraordinary celebration, when our Church will officially recognize Mária Magdolna Bódi, the faithful witness and martyr, among the Blessed.

May God bless our shared preparation!
