Magdi’s Life and Spirituality Are With Us

During the 2025 Gizella Days, we once again present Bódi Mária Magdolna—the saintly young woman from Litér—as a shining example. She was to be beatified by the Church on April 26. However, due to the death of Pope Francis, the beatification has been postponed, and the liturgical celebration will take place at a later date. Still, Magdi’s life and spirituality remain present among us—as a witness to hope, love, and living faith.

As part of the Gizella Days, several programs will focus on highlighting Magdi’s personality, virtues, and legacy.

On Saturday and Sunday between 12:00 and 18:00, families are invited to a variety of thematic experience-based programs at Trinity Square.

A special atmosphere will be created by “Magdi’s Flower Garden”, the timeless chalk-drawing activity that made its debut with great success last year. From the Biró-Giczey House through Trinity Square all the way to St. Michael’s Cathedral, the asphalt was adorned with colorful flowers, forming what seemed to be a giant communal garden for the celebration. Not only children, but also youth, adults, and seniors picked up chalk to create something beautiful and shared—expressing their love for nature and creativity, two of Magdi’s most defining traits.

The youngest visitors will enjoy “Magdi’s Toy Chest”, where families can play games inspired by the life of Bódi Mária Magdolna. Through these playful activities, the young role model’s virtues—such as courage, hope, and joy—come alive, touching the imagination of children and the hearts of their parents alike.

At the Biró-Giczey House, the “Creative Garden” offers a courtyard where handicrafts and faith meet: participants can make Magdi-themed traveler’s stones, design family crests, decorate keychains, or even learn hand embroidery. Many of these activities are inspired by the virtues highlighted in the spiritual booklet about Magdi’s life—love of nature, spiritual strength, creativity, joy, and courage.

An adventurous experience is offered by the Magdi Tour, an interactive treasure hunt and code-breaking game. Through this quest, participants are playfully introduced to the life, mission, and spirit of Bódi Mária Magdolna.

Magdi Tour times:

  • Saturday, May 10: 12:00–18:00

  • Sunday, May 11: 12:00–18:00
The starter kit for the tour can be collected at the Biró-Giczey House.

On Saturday, May 10 at 3:30 PM, a podium discussion titled Magdi’s Legacy will be held about Bódi Mária Magdolna, also at the Biró-Giczey House.

During Gizella Days, visitors will also have the opportunity to view the roll-up exhibition about the life and faith of Bódi Mária Magdolna.

The postponement of the beatification is not a setback but rather an invitation to a deeper, richer, and more intense spiritual connection. Magdi’s example radiates the light of trust in God especially in the most difficult times. These programs help us not only to learn about her but also to embark on the path she has already walked—the path of love, joy, and faith.
