Among the Best

We are delighted to share the news that our exhibition “Bogáncs és liliom – The Flowers of Magdalenes” has been shortlisted for the prestigious Exhibition of the Year 2025 award. The decision was made by the judging panel at its meeting on August 7, 2025, granting the exhibition the official title of “Nominee for the Exhibition of the Year 2025.”

On view at the Biró–Giczey House, the exhibition was created in the light of the upcoming beatification of Bódi Mária Magdolna. By unveiling the secrets of artefacts depicting episodes from the life of her patron saint, Mary Magdalene, the exhibition brings visitors closer to the mystery of “Magdalenes” – to the hidden depths of both Bódi Mária Magdolna and Saint Mary Magdalene. The symbolism of the “thistle” and the “lily” evokes the purity, faith, and beauty lived by Magdi even amid hardships, presented in a unique artistic selection.

In the next stage of the evaluation process, members of the jury will carry out further on-site and professional assessments before making their final decision. The awards ceremony will take place on October 21, 2025, in Budapest, during a conference hosted at the Petőfi Literary Museum.

This nomination is not only a celebration of the exhibition itself but of all creators, contributors, and visitors. Special applause goes to the two curators, Dr. Veronika Nagy and Gábor Gaylhoffer, for their outstanding work. We also extend heartfelt thanks to everyone who, through their work, ideas, prayers, and presence, has helped Bogáncs és liliom earn recognition from the professional community.
