The latest booklet from the internationally renowned Italian publisher VELAR now includes the life of Blessed Bódi Mária Magdolna. The author of the publication is Father Péter Szakács, who previously wrote a litany in honor of Magdi. The newly published book briefly, yet with profound content, guides the reader through the main stages of Magdi’s life – from her childhood to her martyrdom.
Tibor László Varga’s book “…bears abundant fruit” about the life of Mary Magdalene Bódi. The author said that they wanted to publish a biography that specifically focuses on facts and data. He processed contemporary sources, biographies published so far, and the topics of last year’s and the current conference. The volume contains the surviving writings of Mary Magdalene Bódi, we can find photographs of her and the beginning of her cult, and we can also learn about the history of the canonization process.
The first volume of studies of the Archdiocese of Veszprém presents the life, faith and environment of Mary Magdalene Bódi. This special publication was prepared by the staff of the Archdiocese of Veszprém Library and Archives, which helps to bring closer the legacy of Magdi, who dedicated her life to God and died heroically for her faith.
Blessed Bódi approaches the spirit and example of faith of Mary Magdalene from a theological and spiritual perspective. The studies of Fathers Balázs Csernai and Péter Szakács examine the source of Magdi’s love for God, while Veronika Nagy, director of the Blessed Gizella Archdiocesan Collection, presents the locations of Magdi’s life, illustrated with artistic photographs by Gábor Gaylhoffer-Kovács. Tibor László Varga, a colleague of the Archdiocesan Archives, flashes back to a historical perspective to episodes of her life that particularly demonstrate the purity and self-surrender of Magdi’s spirit.
The work “Testimony with Lilies and Blood” written by Father József Temesi – which has already been published in several languages – comes to life again in the presented copies. In addition to the Hungarian version, an English edition is also available, which opens up the rich world of the Magdalene cult to the international faith community. These biographical and spiritual fragments are not just collections of historical data, but also instructive moments of life that bring the reader closer to the person of Blessed Mary Magdalene.
