The ceremony also marked the establishment of the first capital meeting point of the “Ride with Magdival” cycling pilgrimage movement in Budapest.

The cycling pilgrimage started from the All Saints’ Parish of Budapest with the blessing of Father Gábor Écsy and the enthusiastic group arrived at the St. Stephen’s Chapel of the Order of Mercy for the Care of the Sick in Buda.

Before the vespers, Brother Kornél Unger, the legal entity representative of the Hungarian Order of Mercy Institutions and the archbishop of the Budapest community, greeted those present. In his speech, he emphasized that it is a great grace for them to be able to welcome the relic of Blessed Mary Magdalene of Bódi in their chapel, whose life is a shining example of loyalty to Christ, a pure heart and the courage born of faith for today’s people as well.

During the evening, Bercel Tóth, a young acrobatic basketball world cup winner, testified, speaking through his personal story about the importance of faith, perseverance and a relationship with God.

In his greeting, Archbishop György Udvardy expressed his joy that the veneration of Blessed Mary Magdalene of Bódi is spreading so quickly and naturally among young people. He especially thanked the initiative of the “Cycling with Magdival” community, which helps bring young people closer to Christ and Magdi’s example through the love of cycling.

– Beatification is the church’s gift to the believing community. I am grateful that by placing the relic and praying together, we can give thanks to God for this young Hungarian martyr tonight – said the archpastor.

In his teaching, starting from the words of Saint Paul, he reflected on the secret of life. He pointed out that when we seek the secret of the life of a saint or martyr, we should not actually look for extraordinary abilities or special methods, but for the source from which their entire life flowed.

– What was the secret of Blessed Mary Magdalene Bódi? It is none other than the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The faith that Christ lives. This gave her strength for everyday service, for a life nourished by the Eucharist, for the creative living of love and for her ultimate witness – he emphasized.

According to Archbishop György, the strength of Magdi’s life was not revealed in a single heroic moment, but in everyday life: in prayer, service, love of nature, building community, and in the decisions she made for Christ over and over again.

As the culmination of the vespers, the archpastor placed the relic of Blessed Mary Magdalene in the painting of her, created by the painter Gábor Atlasz. The new painting will now provide a permanent place of prayer in the capital for those who ask for Magdi’s intercession.

At the end of the ceremony, Brother Kornél Unger thanked all those who contributed to the organization of the celebration, especially highlighting the presence of the archbishop, Father Provincial Rudolf Knopp, the Harmonia Salutis Choir, artist Gábor Atlasz, and the young pilgrims of the “Roll with Magdi” community.

Róbert Brunner, the leader of the movement, spoke about how the Buda chapel aims to be not just a memorial site, but a living meeting point for cycling pilgrims and young people.

– Our goal is to have a spiritual oasis in this noisy, bustling city that is worth visiting, where you can connect, pray, recharge and find community – he said.

The organizers also provided information about the formation of a new thematic cycling pilgrimage route connecting important locations in the life of Blessed Bódi Mária Magdolna in the Balaton Uplands, which will also provide opportunities for individual and community pilgrimages in the future.

The evening ended with agape and informal conversation, where the participants could personally meet members of the “Cycle with Magdival” community.

“Jesus Christ lives” – this was the secret of the life of Blessed Bódi Mária Magdolna. And this is the secret that can still create community, give hope and set us on new paths today.

Brother Asztrik said: the Order of Mercy for the Care of the Sick had been following the life of Mary Magdalene Bódi and the preparations for the beatification long before her beatification. It was particularly important for them that there should be a place in the Buda headquarters of the order where the faithful could encounter Magdi’s legacy, ask for her intercession and learn about her life example.

In this spirit, he requested a relic from Archbishop György Udvardy and commissioned the painter Gábor Atlasz to create a painting depicting Magdi. Initially, two traditional attributes were among the ideas: the lily, which symbolizes purity, and the palm branch, which is an ancient Christian symbol of martyrdom. However, during the planning process, Brother Asztrik spoke with Róbert Brunner, one of the main coordinators of the #TekerjMagdival pilgrimages, and

It became clear to them that the bicycle could not be missing from the depiction. After all, this symbol perhaps brings Magdi closer to today’s people, especially young people, than anything else.

According to Brother Asztrik, it was important to create a prominent meeting point not only in the Balaton Uplands, but also in the capital, where young people in particular could feel Magdi close to them. In the period surrounding the beatification, they experienced that more and more young people were interested in her. Participants in the #TekerjMagdival bicycle pilgrimage arrived, and they were met by hundreds of communities, families and young people, for whom the simplicity, authenticity and courage of Magdi’s life are particularly attractive.

They also ensured that the image containing the relic was placed in a worthy manner. A special place protected by shatterproof glass was created for it in the chapel, where the faithful can come to pray from morning until dusk. The capsule of the relic was made by master goldsmith Kristóf Gelley, the same artist who also contributed to the creation of the liturgical relics for the beatification. The choice was conscious: they wanted to express the spiritual connection between the Order of Mercy for the Sick and the Archdiocese of Veszprém, as well as the unity that the veneration of Blessed Mary Magdalene Bódi creates between the different communities.

On the evening of June 15, young and older pilgrims gathered for a festive vespers in the St. Stephen’s Chapel of the Order of Mercy in Buda.

[4

post-3266","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news
["GET
