{"id":2790,"date":"2025-11-20T11:35:12","date_gmt":"2025-11-20T10:35:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bodimariamagdolna.hu\/?p=2790"},"modified":"2025-11-20T11:35:12","modified_gmt":"2025-11-20T10:35:12","slug":"discovering-bodi-maria-magdolna-in-krakow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bodimariamagdolna.hu\/en\/discovering-bodi-maria-magdolna-in-krakow\/","title":{"rendered":"Discovering B\u00f3di M\u00e1ria Magdolna in Krak\u00f3w"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last week, two high-school choirs of the Pad\u00e1nyi Catholic School \u2014 the <strong>Pad\u00e1nyi Schola Mixed Choir<\/strong> and the <strong>Pad\u00e1nyi Chamber Choir<\/strong>, led by Cec\u00edlia Zsilinszky and Erika Hutv\u00e1gner \u2014 visited their partner school in Poland.<br \/>\nFor twelve years, the Pad\u00e1nyi Catholic School has maintained a close relationship with the <strong>Presentation Sisters\u2019 High School in Krak\u00f3w<\/strong>.<br \/>\nThe Polish students hosted the Hungarian singers for an entire week, during which the focus was not only on singing together, but also on discovering the city\u2019s historic and cultural treasures.<\/p>\n<p>During their visit to <strong>Wawel<\/strong>, the students encountered numerous historical links between the two nations as they walked among the tombs of kings and queens laid to rest within the cathedral.<br \/>\nAt the next day\u2019s city-exploration contest, they came across many memorial plaques recalling heroes and figures of shared Hungarian\u2013Polish history.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>An unexpected and moving discovery in the Sanctuary of Divine Mercy<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The most profound surprise of the trip awaited the group in the <strong>Basilica of Divine Mercy<\/strong>.<br \/>\nThis remarkable and unique basilica was consecrated by <strong>Pope John Paul II<\/strong> on August 17, 2002.<br \/>\nA sister of the <strong>Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy<\/strong> told the students about St. Faustina and the history of the church.<\/p>\n<p>In the lower church there are five chapels \u2014 one of them is the <strong>Hungarian Chapel<\/strong>.<br \/>\nThe walls are adorned with magnificent mosaics depicting Polish and Hungarian saints, which is why it is known as the <em>Chapel of the Communion of Saints<\/em>.<br \/>\nThe students were informed that the chapel was consecrated by <strong>Cardinal P\u00e9ter Erd\u0151<\/strong>, Primate of Hungary, on October 9, 2004, as a gift from the Hungarian Catholic Church.<\/p>\n<p>During the guided tour, the group was amazed by the large linden-wood shield above the altar, depicting Christ the King with St. Faustina in the background.<br \/>\nIn front of the altar, they discovered a reliquary containing a fragment of <strong>the arm relic of St. Stephen, King of Hungary<\/strong>.<br \/>\nThe relic had been brought to Poland in 1370 by <strong>King Louis the Great<\/strong>, ruler of both Hungary and Poland, as a symbol of unity between the two nations \u2014 though, over time, its existence was largely forgotten in Hungary.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>\u201cTeacher, look \u2014 B\u00f3di M\u00e1ria Magdolna is here!\u201d<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>When the students had the chance to walk around the chapel and read the names of the saints and blesseds depicted on the walls, one of them suddenly exclaimed:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cTeacher, look \u2014 there\u2019s B\u00f3di M\u00e1ria Magdolna!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>And indeed, there she was \u2014 portrayed alongside <strong>Blessed Jolenta, Cardinal J\u00f3zsef Mindszenty, Bishop Vilmos Apor, and St. Maximilian Kolbe<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>For us, believers from the Archdiocese of Veszpr\u00e9m, this discovery carries special meaning.<br \/>\nThe artistic and theological conception of the chapel was created by <strong>Fr.
