At the final event of this year\u2019s Sound Waves<\/em> series, held on September 7<\/strong>, Archbishop Gergely Kov\u00e1cs of Gyulafeh\u00e9rv\u00e1r<\/strong>, the former postulator of Blessed M\u00e1ria Magdolna B\u00f3di\u2019s<\/strong> cause for beatification, and Cristiana Marinelli<\/strong>, the current postulator, spoke about the role of a postulator in the process and shared their personal reflections on how deeply they were touched by Magdi\u2019s life and faith.<\/p>\n

On Sunday afternoon, visitors gathered in Tihany<\/strong>, aboard the St. Nicholas boat<\/strong>. Throughout the year, the Archdiocese of Veszpr\u00e9m<\/strong> organized five such boat journeys, each focusing on different aspects of B\u00f3di M\u00e1ria Magdolna\u2019s<\/strong> life and beatification.
The final voyage of the season was hosted by Enik\u0151 Lo\u00f3szn\u00e9 D\u00f6m\u00f6t\u00f6r<\/strong>, with Father Istv\u00e1n Tak\u00e1cs<\/strong>, parish priest of the Veszpr\u00e9m Cathedral, serving as interpreter.
Among the audience was Bishop Aurelio Garc\u00eda Mac\u00edas<\/strong>, Undersecretary of the Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments<\/strong>.
Archbishop Kov\u00e1cs emphasized the significance of his presence, noting that it was an exceptional honor to welcome such a high-ranking representative of the Dicastery to Hungary \u2014 someone who not only prayed before Blessed Magdi\u2019s relic but also showed deep interest in the Hungarian Church and its people.<\/p>\n

Archbishop Kov\u00e1cs shared that during his years working in the Vatican, he served as postulator for the cause of Bishop \u00c1ron M\u00e1rton<\/strong>, and later, at the request of the Archdiocese of Veszpr\u00e9m<\/strong>, he began overseeing B\u00f3di M\u00e1ria Magdolna\u2019s<\/strong> cause as well.
When he was appointed Archbishop of Gyulafeh\u00e9rv\u00e1r, he invited Cristiana Marinelli<\/strong>, who had already been involved in compiling parts of the positio<\/em> (the official document for the cause), to continue the work as postulator.<\/p>\n

Both speakers explained that the postulator\u2019s task is to officially represent the cause of beatification in Rome<\/strong>, acting as a bridge between the diocese and the Holy See\u2019s Dicastery. The postulator ensures that all necessary documentation and steps are properly carried out to demonstrate the candidate\u2019s heroic virtues and sanctity.
\u201cThe postulator must approach the task with both historical interest and critical discernment,\u201d said Archbishop Kov\u00e1cs. \u201cThe position must be compiled objectively.\u201d
Cristiana Marinelli added: \u201cWe must go deep \u2014 and yet, it is impossible not to be personally moved and involved.\u201d<\/p>\n

They both acknowledged that a postulator inevitably becomes spiritually attached to the candidate. The example of the person under investigation becomes part of their life.
Archbishop Kov\u00e1cs shared a personal reflection from his experience with Bishop \u00c1ron M\u00e1rton\u2019s cause:
\u201cEach year, I choose one \u2018virtue\u2019 from his life \u2014 from that great predecessor who never compromised in matters of faith \u2014 and I try to live by it. I don\u2019t know if I become better, but I keep trying,\u201d he said with a smile.<\/p>\n

Cristiana Marinelli added that she often finds herself wondering, \u201cWhat would Magdi do?\u201d<\/em> in certain situations. She described it as a profound gift to have been among those who carried Magdi\u2019s relic to the altar during the beatification ceremony:
\u201cI felt as if Magdi were walking beside me. I said to her in my heart: Look, how many have come here for you!<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n
