It is a great joy and honor that more and more people are expressing interest in the beatification of M\u00e1ria Magdolna B\u00f3di, which will take place on Saturday, April 26, 2025, in Veszpr\u00e9m. According to Fr. D\u00e1vid Kulcs\u00e1r, preparations are in full swing to celebrate this historic event in a worthy manner.<\/p>\n
The Veszpr\u00e9m Arena and the adjacent area will host the solemn events of the beatification. On the evening of Friday, April 25, a youth prayer vigil will be held at the venue, lasting throughout the night to support the spiritual deepening of young people. The following morning, on April 26, from 8:00 AM, pilgrims will be welcomed, and from 9:00 AM, a period of prayerful preparation will take place. The solemn Holy Mass will begin at 11:00 AM, celebrated by Cardinal P\u00e9ter Erd\u0151, Primate, Archbishop of Esztergom-Budapest.<\/p>\n
One of the special moments of the Holy Mass will be the ringing of the bell named after the beatified Magdi, marking the beginning of the ceremony. One of the most moving highlights will be the placement of the relic: young people will carry it to the altar and present it to Emeritus Archbishop Gyula M\u00e1rfi, while Cardinal P\u00e9ter Erd\u0151 will place a relic fragment in the missionary cross. This cross holds the relics of Hungarian saints and blesseds and played a prominent role in the Budapest city mission, the International Eucharistic Congress, and Pope Francis’ 2023 visit to Hungary.<\/p>\n
The dignity of the ceremony will be further enhanced by vestments prepared in the diocese’s own sewing workshop, performances by various choirs and orchestras, and a litany and hymn composed in honor of M\u00e1ria Magdolna B\u00f3di.<\/p>\n
Organizers are paying special attention to the comfort and safety of the faithful. Participation requires prior registration, which is expected to be available from March on the official beatification website. Pilgrims’ arrival will be facilitated by organized pilgrimage trains, shuttle services, and appropriate parking facilities. Special arrangements will also be made for people with disabilities, the deaf and hard of hearing, and families with young children.<\/p>\n
The organizers encourage everyone to bring a “traveler’s stone” prepared in memory of M\u00e1ria Magdolna B\u00f3di. After the Holy Mass, pilgrims are welcome not only at the event venue but also in the Veszpr\u00e9m Castle District, where M\u00e1ria Magdolna B\u00f3di’s relic will be placed in the cathedral.<\/p>\n
